Grizzly T10687 Track Saw Review
by Lorenz Prem on 03-22-2013 11:46 pm

The one tool we were most excited to get intoour shop this spring is the Grizzly T10687. The day it wasannounced was a fine day from track saws. It already is one of themost important tools of 2013. Promise and novelty, however, do notmake for a good tool. It takes good design work and a well managedmanufacturing process to score well in our in-depth review. Let'stake a look, if the T10687 is the track saw we all have beenwaiting for.

Grizzly G1023 Tablesaw Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-26-2009 6:53 pm

I bought my G1023 3 years ago. Since then it hasseen a lot of action. First and foremost this saw cuts straight andtrue. Everything I ever asked it to do, it did withoutcomplaining.

I only got the G1023 to bog down once by pinching the blade withplywood. On some thicker pieces cutting got slow, but was stillpossible. I would not worry about the motor or the saw's power. Thesaw may be too slow for production, but a hobbyist will find allthe power he needs. When not under load the motor produces thatbeautiful hum a finely tun

Grizzly G0440 Cyclone Dust Collector Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-20-2009 9:49 pm

After avoiding the issue for the longest time, Irecently bought the Grizzly G0440 dust collector. It will be thecenter piece of the new dust collection system in my shop. I havebeen working without dust collection for over a year now. I regretnot getting a dust collector immediately when I started my shop.Like so many beginners I decided to invest in machines first. Thedust got so bad I did not want to work in the shop anymore.

Straight out of the box the G0440 makes a solid impression.Every part feels heavy

Grizzly G0586 Jointer Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-20-2009 9:47 pm

My jointer is the best upgrade I have made in myshop after purchasing the table saw. It allows me to buy 3S woodfrom the lumber yard. The added work I have to do makes the woodsignificantly cheaper. However, I also get to be much more flexiblewith how I use the wood. Besides saving money I can also work withticker stock, which almost exclusively comes either in 3S or roughsawn form. The jointer I decided to buy is the Grizzly G0586.Living so close to Billingham I was able to pickup the machinemyself.

The G0586 has three sta

Grizzly G1035 Shaper Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-20-2009 9:45 pm

When the time came to buy a router table Ifigured a shaper would be a better choice. It cost only a littlemore than a quality router table, but was a stand alone machine. The motor of the grizzly I settled on was much more powerful thanmy router's, plus I did not have to buy all the cutters twice. Iwas sold on the idea and bought the G1035 shaper from Grizzly.

The G1035 is clearly a machine for hobbyist; granted, serioushobbyists, but hobbyists none the less. Several points in thisreview will illustrate this.

Grizzly G9976 Mortiser Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-20-2009 9:43 pm

The Grizzly G9976 is the quintessential budgetmortising machine. I have had it in my shop for years now. It hascut several hundred of mortises for me. Most of time it has done soreliably. Sometimes, however, not accurately. The machine is asolid performer, but hard to set up.

The word "manual" best describes this machine. Before every cutyou have to align the fence, hold downs, and depth stop. All ofthese are set using some form of set screw lock. It is very hard toaccurately configure the machine. Set screws apply

Grizzly G9956 Air Filter Review
by Lorenz Prem on 11-20-2009 9:41 pm

After procrastinating and covering the shop in afine layer of dust for years, I finally decided to spend the moneyand get an air cleaner. I did my research, or tried to. There wasnot much data about air cleaners out there. Nobody seems to havetested them. I eventually bought the G9956 from Grizzly.

The G9956 Air Cleaner

When I unpacked the machine I immediately noticed why there wasso little data out there. The G9956 is nothing more than a box witha blower inside. I naively expected engineering the be involved. Some so

"Drill/driver OK, reciprocating and circular saws are junk. No torque, circular saw won't cut thru a 2x4, reciprocating won't cut a 4x4 without bogging."
"Indeed, this one is the best 12V driver. Get it. You will not be disappointed."
"I use this one for heavy work. It can do it all. None better."
"Love this Router"
"Great driver with only minor issues. App is limited. The last gen is almost as good, yet a lot cheaper."
"This saw replaced a Delta Unisaw in my shop. It's rock solid, powerful, and well made. Fence rivals Biesemeyer or Unifence. Worth the price, IMHO."
"Excellent performance but tough to use at high speed with soft wood, tends to drive too deep before impact kicks in."
"This is my only true drill. The key-less chuck works flawlessly as does the power/speed switch which is handy for drilling various density material."
"A quality sander that performs well day in and day out. Not the best dust bag, that's minor for me. Fits well in my hand and no fatigue with prolonged use."
"A good option for those looking for their first saw, or those looking to upgrade from a "portable" job site saw. Buy a decent blade and you'll be happy."
