Frying pans have low sides to allow for easy styring and turning of food items.
Frying pans do not come with a lid. Saute pans are a better option for cooking liquids.
As with most cookware, the thickness and material used to form the bottom determine much of the pan's thermal properties.
Weight is also a good indicator. A heavier pan is made from ticker metal.
