I need to replace the motor on a very old Powermatic planer. How do I go about finding one that fits? Powermatic no longer sells the matching motor.
You can buy a generic motor off the internet, which matches the requirements of your machine. Besides the output specs, make sure the motor is the right size to be mounted in your machine. There are standards for mounting plates. The shaft diameter is another important spec.
This will take you some time to research, but you'll find a motor eventually. Good luck.
